Executive Moves: Port of Long Beach, IANA and USA Truck

Port of Long Beach appoints HR director and IANA names new VP, while USA Truck adds VP for Mexico operations.

   The Port of Long Beach has hired Louis Gutierrez as managing director of human resources and team development. Gutierrez currently is vice president of human resources for real estate developer the Lewis Group of Companies and previously held related positions for Cox Enterprises and divisions of Time Warner, The Walt Disney Co. and Viacom.

   Stephen Keppler has joined the Intermodal Association of North America as senior vice president, a new position created to support the organization’s growing membership.
   Keppler has been executive director of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance since 2009 and before that was director of vehicle systems at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, which works to spread the adoption of technology in transportation systems. He also worked for six years in the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Motor Carriers, the predecessor to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
   His responsibilities will include overseeing the member services and conference/events departments and developing new businesses for the association’s information services.

   Truckload carrier USA Truck of Van Buren, Ark., has appointed Gary Nichols as vice president of Mexico operations. Prior to joining USA Truck, Nichols was director of international sales of U.S. Xpress, and before that he was director of business development for Con-way Inc.
