Executive Moves: Transplace, TIACA, WISTA USA

A chief operating officer is hired and board members are elected.

Transplace, a provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, has hired David Marsh as chief operating officer of its Celtic Intermodal business unit.
Marsh previously held multiple leadership positions with Hub Group, including chief supply chain officer, chief marketing officer and president of Hub Group Ohio and Hub Group Detroit. Most recently he served as Hub Group’s chief highway solutions officer and executive vice president.
“In today’s challenging transportation market, with fluctuating capacity and rates, more and more shippers are looking to integrate intermodal into their transportation operations. Adding David to the leadership team will better position us to provide flexible, reliable and secure intermodal transportation solutions to our growing customer base,” said Celtic Intermodal President Doug Punzel.

Turhan Özen (pictured above), chief cargo officer of Turkish Airlines and the head of the Turkish Cargo Brand, has been elected to the board of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA).
“With a sizeable and impressive new airport, Turkey is set to become a major aviation transport hub between Europe and Asia,” said Sebastiaan Scholte, chairman of TIACA and CEO of Jan de Rijk Logistics. “Because Turhan will be present on the ground as this major project works towards completion, his insight will prove invaluable to the TIACA board and its members.”
Earlier this month Turkish Airlines moved all operations from Ataturk Airport to the new Istanbul Airport, due for completion in 2027 with six runways boosting capacity for cargo.

Boriana Farrar, vice president, counsel and business development director at Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc., and Laura Sherman, director of marketing and communications and operations technology officer at International Registries Inc., were re-elected to the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) USA board of directors for three-year terms at the organization’s annual general meeting and conference Friday in Philadelphia.
More than 130 people attended the conference. WISTA is an international networking organization for women in management roles in the maritime industry. WISTA comprises more than 3,000 members in 46 countries.
“WISTA USA and WISTA International have grown substantially in the last year. Honored with consultative status at IMO in 2018, WISTA sees real energy in the community and in our membership to collaborate and cooperate to drive the industry toward inclusion. That energy was palpable at this conference,” said WISTA USA President Parker Harrison, senior vice president and general counsel for Crowley Maritime Corp.
