Alan Gershenhorn, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of UPS, will retire in June 2018. His responsibilities included corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, public affairs and communications, as well as oversight of full-truckload subsidiary Coyote and Marken, the company’s healthcare logistics unit.
A member of the UPS team since 1979, Gershenhorn is credited with leading programs that helped UPS evolve from a $3 billion U.S.-centric ground small package delivery company to a more than $60 billion global supply chain and logistics solutions provider. He first joined the UPS Management Committee in 2007 to serve as president of UPS International, where he was responsible for the UPS international package, freight forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics businesses.
UPS has yet to name a successor to Gershenhorn.

Class I railroad Union Pacific (UP) has named Cindy Sanborn regional vice president of transportation for its western region, effective Feb. 16, 2018. She succeeds Richard Castagna, who will retire after nearly 25 years with UP.
Based in Roseville, Calif., Sanborn will manage more than 10,000 track miles, leading rail operations in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.
Sanborn joins UP from east coast railroad CSX, where she served as executive vice president and chief operations officer, and was the first woman to hold an executive operating leadership role at any Class I.

TFI International Inc. has promoted Greg Orr to president of CFI, its North American full-truckload division, effective immediately, and hired Michael Hinz as senior vice president of sales and operations for CFI.
Orr joined CFI last year after serving as president of Action Resources, where he was responsible for a leading U.S. hazardous waste over-the-road transporter. Prior to this, he spent time as the president and former vice president of operations for Con-way Multimodal.
Hinz joins CFI from Roehl Transport, where he served as president of the company’s van group since 2013.
