Executive Moves: ZEABORN, ChartCo, Alfa Laval

Rob Grool is named CEO, Tom Edwards is hired to head procurement and Anders Lindmark is tapped to lead a gas systems business unit.

Rob Grool (pictured above) has assumed leadership of ZEABORN Ship Management as chief executive officer.
“We are very excited to have found an internationally renowned executive for our company’s top management. Rob has an excellent industry network, possesses extensive know-how in all areas of ship management and operations, as well as international expertise and many years of leadership experience. He is renowned for managing clients’ vessels with an owner’s view,” said Jan-Hendrik Többe and Ove Meyer, the ZEABORN Group’s managing partners.
They added that with the acquisition of Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei (CPO Tankers), the course has been set for ZEABORN Ship Management as a full-service provider in the ship management sector.
“Together with Rob, we want to work towards a strategic goal of expanding our managed fleet to more than 250 vessels,” they said.
ZEABORN said over the last 39 years, Grool has had “an international career as a marine engineer, eventually holding executive positions as managing director and board member of renowned companies across the globe. Over the various stages of his professional life, Rob has worked in many different parts of the world, ranging from Europe and the Middle East to Asia and North America.”
Holger Strack had been the acting CEO since the beginning of the year. Többe and Meyer said, “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Holger Strack, who has been doing a fantastic job as ZEABORN Ship Management’s interim CEO. At the same time, we are very pleased that Holger will now be able to focus on other tasks within the Zech Group.”

Tom Edwards has been hired for ChartCo’s newly created role of head of procurement.
ChartCo, a global provider of digital navigation services and voyage compliance, said Edwards “has a strong procurement, purchasing and project management background, both within consultancy and industry with Rolls Royce and the BT Group. He will help deliver traceability and responsible sourcing while working in partnership with suppliers to reduce costs, mitigate risks, drive innovation and growth and strengthen business relationships.”
ChartCo Chief Financial Officer Sam Samra said, “Through the market-leading OneOcean platform we are providing an ever-broader range of data, solutions and value-added proprietary intelligence to our growing customer base. Tom’s wealth of procurement expertise will ensure we can provide our customers with supply chain competitiveness and resilience, which is particularly important against the current backdrop of increasing economic and political uncertainty.”

Anders Lindmark, formerly head of Alfa Laval PureBallast, is now president of the company’s gas systems business unit and will oversee its PureSOx offering in exhaust gas cleaning.
“The move follows years of service in ballast water treatment, comprising a number of key milestones for Alfa Laval PureBallast 3. Besides cementing itself as the leading ballast water treatment solution, the system became a forerunner with U.S. Coast Guard-type approval and was the first to be certified according to the IMO revised G8 guidelines,” the company said.
Lindmark’s new role is based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where he will drive the continued development of Alfa Laval’s SOx scrubber offering.
Lindmark said, “The PureSOx team is highly skilled, and I’ve followed its accomplishments even during my time with PureBallast. In the 10 years since the first vessel set sail with PureSOx on board, they’ve developed an extraordinary product and service offering, ranging from hybrid systems with the industry’s most effective closed-loop water cleaning technology to market-leading connectivity in the form of PureSOx Connect. I’m proud to join such a dynamic team and excited to continue moving PureSOx forward.”
Lindmark’s successor as head of Alfa Laval PureBallast is Peter Sahlén, who has been with the PureBallast team since 2012. For the past five years, Sahlén has served as head of research and development for the PureBallast offering.
