EXEL ADDS DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN SYDNEY
Exel, the supply chain management service provider, has opened a multi-user distribution center at Arndell Park in Sydney, Australia.
The 17,555-square-meter center, located in West Sydney, includes a hazardous materials storage area and provides access to key transportation services, Exel said.
' Exel has automated the operation with a warehouse management system that interfaces radio frequency scanning, providing real-time control and information management.
Johnson & Johnson Pacific was the first customer operating from the new center. The company said it has experienced improved turnaround times and stock and order picking accuracy within its order-fulfillment and distribution operations, Exel said.
The new center is another step in what Exel said has been rapid expansion of its services in Australia since its acquisition of the Total Logistics Co. in December 2000.
