FAA NAMES FLIGHT STANDARDS SERVICE EXECUTIVES
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has named James J. Ballough as director and Louis C. Cusimano as deputy director of the Flight Standards Service.
The Flight Standards Service promotes aviation safety and ensures compliance with the operations and maintenance safety standards for airlines, commercial operators, agencies and staff.
Ballough, with 27 years of aviation experience, will lead the organization of more than 4,500 safety inspectors and other aviation professionals.
He joined FAA headquarters in June as acting manager of Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Division.
Cusimano has 31 years of aviation experience, including 24 years at FAA. He served as acting director of the Flight Standards Service, as well as in a variety of key management posts, FAA said.
