Fairchild Freight partners with ORBCOMM on cold chain system

The truckload carrier selected OBRCOMM, a global provider of machine-to-machine and “internet of things” solutions, to provide its dual-mode cold chain telematics solution for tracking and monitoring refrigerated trailers.

   Truckload carrier Fairchild Freight, selected OBRCOMM, a global provider of machine-to-machine and “internet of things” solutions, to provide its dual-mode cold chain telematics solution for tracking and monitoring refrigerated trailers, ORBCOMM said.
   Under the agreement, ORBCOMM will provide both satellite and cellular connectivity through state-of-the-art hardware, along with a web-based reporting platform for optimal fleet management.
   ORBCOMM’s cold chain telematics solution will be used by Fairchild Freight to provide comprehensive temperature, fuel management, and maintenance data for its refrigerated trailers. The truckload carrier will integrate this data with its back-office platform to optimize temperature compliance and asset utilization.
   “Deployments began in the first quarter of 2016 and will continue throughout the second quarter of 2016,” ORBCOMM said.
   “By utilizing ORBCOMM’s solution, we can maintain the highest level of quality and integrity for our perishable cargo, which translates into providing best-in-class service for our customers, while enabling us to meet the requirements for the FDA’s upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act,” Fairchild Freight Director of Logistics Chris Rawls said.
