FASTSHIP HIRES SHIP MANAGER, SEEKS TERMINAL SITE
FastShip, the company trying to develop a high-speed transatlantic cargo
service, has hired Interocean Ugland Management to manage the
yet-to-be-built ships.
FastShip also said it wants to build a terminal at Pier 124 in
Philadelphia and is negotiating with CSX Corp., the property’s owner. The
terminal would incorporate high-speed cargo handling technology that
FastShip plans to pioneer.
FastShip vessels would use jet engines and special hulls to shuttle
between Philadelphia and Cherbourg, France, at speeds of close 40 knots.
