FDA releases guidance for food safety compliance

The document covers standards for the growing, harvesting, picking or holding of produce for human consumption as well as requirements for importers of food for humans and animals.

   The Food and Drug Administration on Monday released the Small Entity Compliance Guide for meeting Food Safety Modernization Act requirements, including Foreign Supplier Verification Program requirements. 
   The three-page document references January guidance covering areas including standards for growing, harvesting, picking or holding of produce for human consumption as well as requirements for importers of food for humans and animals.
