FedEx Corp. is moving up the previously announced appointment of David Bronczek as president and chief operating officer from the beginning of 2018 to Feb. 1, 2017, the company said in a statement.
Bronczek, who has served as president and chief executive officer of FedEx Express since 2000, will be succeeded in his current role by FedEx Express Executive Vice President and COO David Cunningham.
Group Chairman and CEO Frederick Smith said the decision to accelerate Bronczek’s promotion by 11 months resulted from “substantial progress in integrating the TNT acquisition into FedEx Express.”
FedEx officially completed its 4.4 billion euro (U.S. $4.9 billion) purchase of the Netherlands-based global express carrier TNT Express in late May 2016.
The company in December posted a net income of $700 million on revenues of $14.9 billion for the second quarter of its fiscal year 2017, increases of 1.3 percent and 19.2 percent, respectively, compared with the prior-year period.
