FEDEX CHOOSES G-LOG SYSTEM TO MANAGE LOGISTICS

Global Logistics Technologies Inc., a Connecticut-based developer of Web-based global logistics management software, plans to announce Monday that FedEx Corp. has signed an agreement to implement the G-Log system at its Global Logistics unit.

G-Log’s software is designed to centralize the management of worldwide freight services by any mode. FedEx can use the system to “plan, schedule, and optimize complex multi-leg, multimode and multi-carrier shipments through the use of sophisticated algorithms that incorporate carrier schedules, capabilities, capacities and other information provided by various global service providers,” G-log says.

“The G-Log global Internet-based logistics system will be designed to meet the specific needs of third-party logistics providers and provide customers with greater visibility into the transportation/delivery pipeline on a worldwide basis,” said Gary D. Gilbert, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Supply Chain Services.

FedEx holds an equity stake in G-Log and controls a seat on the company’s board of directors.
