The FedEx Corp. less-than-truckload subsidiary has purchased 100 tractors powered by compressed natural gas, and tapped Clean Energy Fuel Corp. to design, build and maintain the unit’s first CNG fueling station in Oklahoma City.
FedEx Corp.’s less-than-truckload subsidiary is rolling out a new fleet of trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), the company said in a statement.
FedEx Freight has purchased 100 tractors powered by CNG, and tapped Clean Energy Fuel Corp. to design, build and maintain the unit’s first CNG fueling station in Oklahoma City.
Located at the company’s Oklahoma City Service Center, the new CNG fueling station features a four-lane “fast fill” station and a “time fill” station, which has six zones and 18 hoses. The time fill area allows drivers to connect vehicles to an automated system to be refueled over an extended period of time, typically overnight.
FedEx estimates the fueling station will dispense about 2.5 million gasoline gallon equivalents per year.
