FedEx Trade Networks expands in Chicago

   FedEx Trade Networks, the ocean and air freight forwarder of FedEx Corp., has opened a 104,000-square-foot facility in Chicago.

   'Enhancing our North American infrastructure is also a key component of our global expansion,' said Fred Schardt, president and chief executive officer for FedEx Trade Networks, in a statement. 'As we continue to grow our global footprint, and open offices around the world, we are reinforcing our North American offices to support our growth as a company.'

   The new Chicago facility is located near O'Hare International Airport and intermodal rail facilities.

   'Chicago is a major global commercial market, home to one of the busiest airports in the U.S., and America's rail gateway for ocean cargo. By expanding our Chicago operations to offer additional distribution space and services, we can provide our customers with streamlined gateway solutions that can improve efficiency, transit times and overall costs,' Schardt said.

   FedEx Trade Networks has opened 33 forwarding offices in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America since 2008, in addition to its more than 70 locations in the United States and Canada. In addition the new Chicago office, the company has recently relocated its Seattle, Dallas, New York (JFK); Miami; and Charlotte, N.C., offices to larger facilities.
