FEFC PLANS $150 PER TEU PEAK SEASON SURCHARGE
The Far Eastern Freight Conference said that it may introduce a peak
season surcharge of $150 per 20-foot box or $300 per 40-footer later this year for
shipments from Asia to northern Europe.
Though no final decision has been made, the conference said that it
would give shippers a 30-day notice of the introduction of the surcharge in the event that
the charge is implemented.
Contrary to the Pacific trade, where the peak shipping season is
already starting, the annual surge in traffic volumes on the Asia/Europe route has not yet
begun.
