Fire aboard MOL ship
A fire started Dec. 28 aboard the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines vessel “MOL Renaissance” as it entered the Red Sea, headed towards the Suez Canal.
The crew extinguished the fire that was located in the ship’s cargo hold No. 2. The vessel deviated to Aqaba for damage inspections and as of Wednesday was awaiting berthing allowance outside the Jordan territorial waters.
Senator Lines, who take slots on the vessel, said it had received no information about the damage sustained by either the ship or cargo.
The ship owners have declared general average and appointed Stichling, Hahn, Hilbrich of Hamburg as adjusters.
