Food aid reform may be revised

President Obama’s plans to overhaul food aid by allowing more regional and local purchase of food may be revised because of congressional opposition.
An article appearing in on the Website of the Roll Call newspaper on Friday said there is concern by members of Congress from both parties that the planned changes would hurt U.S. farmers and U.S. shipping companies. The newspaper said Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., is working on a smaller package of changes to the food aid program.
