Former DAMCO exec to head new SaaS division at SEKO

SEKO Logistics named Michael Christensen president of SaaS and CPO of International Supply Chain Solutions to lead a new business unit focusing on the third-party logistics provider’s service-as-a-software technology solutions.

SEKO Logistics has appointed Michael Christensen to lead a new business unit focusing on the third-party logistics provider’s service-as-a-software (SaaS) technology solutions.
Christensen, former global head of forwarding at DAMCO International, was named president of SaaS and CPO of International Supply Chain Solutions.
SaaS is one of the fastest growing segments of SEKO’s business, with between 85 percent and 90 percent of all orders and shipments managed through its various technology products, the company said in a statement.
SEKO’s SaaS offering incorporates its transportation management system (TMS), warehouse management system (WMS) and purchase order management solutions. The company aims to launch its latest technology solution later this year, combining international and domestic supply chains with omni-channel and e-commerce capabilities.
Christensen’s appointment will allow Chief Information Officer Tom Madzy to continue to take an active sales support role in the SaaS division, while also enabling him to focus on SEKO’s systems development and infrastructure to support its growing global logistics business, the company said.
“Michael is an executive with a proven track record as a global supply chain leader, working with leading organizations within logistics, forwarding, and IT,” SEKO Logistics President and CEO William J. Wascher said of the appointment. “His expertise will help us to significantly grow SEKO’s SaaS product revenue and signals a new stage in our development as we realize the opportunities opening us for us as both a logistics company capable of bundling outstanding technology and freight forwarder as well as our growing reputation as a stand-alone software provider.”
“SEKO is not new to this. We have been delivering award-winning software services for our customers since the launch of our MySEKO portal in 2004,” added Christensen. “Now we’re taking this to the next level. The success of the SaaS team at SEKO over the past 18 months is nothing short of impressive. Rarely does one see an offering that combines a deep understanding of the value chain from an execution perspective, leading edge technology, fast implementation and quick ROI.”
