Fort Lauderdale set to host transport conferences
Officials from the global transportation industry, as well as many of the largest international shippers in the U.S., will be gathered in Fort Lauderdale over the coming four days for joint conferences of the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA), and the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL).
IANA is holding its annual membership meeting and Intermodal Expo, while the NITL is holding its TransComp conference. The conferences are being held November 11-14 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Saturday and Sunday, the two groups will hold a series of membership and committee meetings. Monday, the conference kicks off with opening ceremonies that feature leaders from both organizations, as well as a keynote address by Capt. Wei Jiafu, the president and CEO of the COSCO Group, the Chinese shipping companies. There will be a series of seminars, as well as booths on the convention center floor Monday and Tuesday.
The event features representatives from major ocean carriers, ports, railroads, trucking companies, and a wide variety of support service companies.
Most attendees have already registered, but it is possible to register at the event for $945. Details concerning both groups are available at www.intermodal.org.
