Forth Ports Limited invested in resurfacing the container terminal to increase capacity and improve access to equipment.
Forth Ports Limited, owner of the Port of Grangemouth in Scotland, said it will resurface the Grangemouth Container Terminal to increase storage capacity and improve access to equipment for both landside and shipside operations.
Scheduled for completion in October 2015, the project is the second phase of a five year investment plan designed to improve storage potential at the container terminal.
The resurfacing, which is on an area of 6,325 square meters, will create additional storage lanes for laden containers. The project will increase capacity to 12,000 TEUs, a 50 percent increase since 2005.
In addition, the port is currently conducting a study on the cost and benefits of deepening the shipping channel to bring in larger vessels. The water depth would be taken from 7.5 meters to over 10 meters. If approved, the dredging project would take three years to complete.
