The cargo consolidator said it will reduce less-than-container load transit times between Rotterdam and St. Petersburg by 11 days.
Famous Pacific Shipping BV launched a new weekly less-than-container load service connecting Rotterdam, Netherlands and St. Petersburg, Russia for general groupage ocean cargo.
The Rotterdam-based neutral cargo consolidator said the service “provides a direct alternative to the historic routing via Vilnius,” and decreases transit times from between the two ports from 15 days to 4 days.
Customs clearance in Russia will be performed at port, according to FPS, or cargo can be trucked in bond for clearance at final inland destinations, including Moscow.
“We expect to attract support for this service from surrounding markets, and also transhipments connecting with our many other global consol services,” FPS Director Saskia de Jong said in a statement from the company. “Rotterdam is a major transhipment hub so we focus on the whole world – this service has big potential.”
Customers will be able to track their shipments on the fully monitored service online through the FPS tracking portal.
