Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued freight rate increases on various trades.
Maersk Line announced FAK rate increases on various trades from:
• Far East Asia to North Europe;
• North Europe to Far East Asia;
• Asia to the Mediterranean;
• The Mediterranean to Far East Asia;
• Far East Asia to the West Coast of Central and South America, Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean;
• North Europe to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent;
• North Europe to the East Coast of South America;
• The Mediterranean to the East Coast of South America;
• The Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka);
• The Middle East to the East Coast of South America;
• And Saudi to Sudan.
The abovementioned FAK rate increases are scheduled to take effect Nov. 1 until further notice, but not beyond the end of November, except from Far East Asia to the West Coast of Central and South America, Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean, where the rate increases will take effect Oct. 20 until further notice, but not beyond Oct. 31.
CMA CGM issued general rate restorations from:
• Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Mozambique and Tamatave for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
• The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East Gulf to West Africa and South Africa for all cargo effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
• All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo effective Oct. 22. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
CMA CGM announced new FAK rates from the West Mediterranean, Black Sea and Adriatic to the Far East, Middle East and Red Sea effective Nov. 1 with validity through Nov. 30.
The French carrier also announced new FAK rates from all Northern European main ports to all Asian main ports effective Nov. 1.
In addition, CMA CGM announced a new freight policy for waste paper and plastics from all North European main ports to all Asian main ports (excluding Hong Kong and Dalian) effective Nov. 1. From Germany and France, rates will increase by $650 per 40-foot high cube; from Belgium and the Netherlands, rates will increase by $500 per 40-foot high cube; and from the United Kingdom, rates will increase by $400 per 40-foot high cube.
CMA CGM also announced a new freight policy for wood logs and sawn timber from all North European main ports to all Asian main ports (excluding Dalian) effective Nov. 1. From Germany and France, rates will increase by $550 per 40-foot high cube, while from Belgium and the Netherlands, rates will increase by $400 per 40-foot high cube.
Hapag-Lloyd said:
• It will increase FAK rates from East Asia to North Europe and the West Mediterranean for all cargo and standard container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,250 per 20-foot container, $2,400 per 40-foot container and $2,450 per 40-foot high cube container.
• It will increase FAK rates from East Asia to the East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa for all cargo and standard container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,550 per 20-foot container, $3,000 per 40-foot container and $3,050 per 40-foot high cube container.
• It will issue a rate restoration from Asia, Australia and New Zealand to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
• It will issue a rate restoration on the Northeast Asia to Australia trade for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
• It will issue a general rate increase from Italy to the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types on the MSW Service effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by 225 euros per 20-foot standard container, 20-foot reefer/high cube reefer container; and 450 euros per 40-foot standard/high cube and 40-foot reefer/high cube reefer container.
• It will issue a general rate increase from East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America, Panama, Gulf of Mexico and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $1,050 per 20-foot container and $1,500 per 40-foot container.
• It will issue a general rate increase from East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot container and $1,500 per 40-foot container.
