Freight Rate Roundup: Maersk, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL and NileDutch

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL and NileDutch have announced freight rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL and NileDutch have announced freight rate increases.
   Maersk Line of Denmark issued increased FAK rates from:
     • The Far East to North Europe Nov. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Nov. 30;
     • Asia to the Mediterranean effective Nov. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Nov. 30;
     • Asia to the West Coast of Central and South America, Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean effective Nov. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Nov. 30;
     • Far East Asia to West Africa effective Dec. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31;
     • The East Coast of South America to the Middle East effective Dec. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31;
     • The East Coast of South America to Europe effective Dec. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31;
     • And from Far East Asia to the United States and Canada effective Dec. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 30;
   French ocean carrier CMA CGM announced new FAK rates from India and Pakistan to Mombasa and Dar-Es-Salaam effective Dec. 1 until Dec. 31.
   In addition, CMA CGM announced new FAK rates from the West Mediterranean, Black Sea, Adriatic, Far East, Middle East and Red Sea effective Nov. 15 with validity through Dec. 31.
   Hapag-Lloyd of Germany announced increased FAK rates from East Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all cargo and standard container types effective Nov. 15.
   Hapag-Lloyd also issued a general rate increase from Canada and the United States to East Asia, the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East for all dry commodities effective Dec. 1. From Vancouver, Canada, rates will increase by $100 per container (for 20-foot and 40-foot containers); and from Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver, Wash., rates will also increase by $100 per container (for 20-foot and 40-foot containers).
   Japanese ocean carrier MOL announced a general rate increase from Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America effective Nov. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU for dry containers; and $1,500 per 40-foot RAD (non-operating reefer) container.
   Netherlands-based NileDutch issued a general rate increase from the Far East to West Africa effective Dec. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
