FREIGHTDESK.COM, DCS GROUP ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Freightdesk.com, a provider of web-based freight forwarding software and services, has announced a revenue sharing agreement with DCS Transport & Logistics Solutions to offer DCS’s software products to forwarders via the Freightdesk web site.

Terms were not disclosed. The two companies will work to integrate the DCS products into Freightdesk’s ‘application service provider’ model of selling software. DCS said it will license its software to Freightdesk and receive revenue on a per transaction basis.

Freightdesk and DCS expect a commercial roll-out within the next four months.

ASP software providers offer software applications to users on a per transaction basis, bypassing the costly licensing and installation process. “Costs are amortized across millions of transactions, making this a very powerful tool for small and medium-sized forwarders and brokers,” said Rob Quartel, chief executive officer of Freightdesk.com.

Quartel formed Freightdesk recently after attracting venture capital and buying a freight forwarding software firm called Accurate Software.

DCS, which includes U.S. software company H.B. Ulrich & Associates, is one of the world’s largest providers of international forwarding software.

Freightdesk “will assist us in reaching beyond our current market by bringing the best products for reasonable prices to the entire industry,” said Hank Ulrich of DCS.
