Freightliner starts Southampton/Birmingham rail service
Freightliner, the United Kingdom’s largest haulier of maritime containers, has added Birmingham International Freight Terminal (BIFT) to its U.K. rail network, with a daily service from its Southampton Maritime terminal.
The new service is a result of Freightliner’s recent agreement with Maersk Line to provide 353 round-trip wagon movements per day across its network to the Danish shipping line.
BIFT is operated by Roadway Container Logistics and is Freightliner’s 15th inland site — the third in the Birmingham area — on its intermodal network.
