Travis Rhyan

Rhyan is a FreightTech innovator and successful executive who has been part of two of the biggest trends in logistics: third-party logistics platforms as the first CTO of GlobalTranz, where he designed and implemented a proprietary transportation management system (TMS); and visibility platforms as CEO of 10-4, a supply chain analytics and monitoring platform that was sold to Trimble Technologies (NASDAQ: TMRB) in the fall of 2017.

Founder and CEO Craig Fuller tapped Rhyan to lead FreightWaves Media’s next stage of growth because of Rhyan’s track record of innovation and being a forward thinking innovator. Fuller said the future of media is interactive and wanted an executive that could help develop products which included interactive components, building upon FreightWaves’ digital capabilities.

“I am both honored and thrilled to lead the logistics industry’s most important source of information. FreightWaves Media has continued to provide unrivaled coverage of the trends and issues that impact global supply chains and transportation,” Rhyan stated. “I look forward to building on the foundation that Craig and his team have established. I am confident that the FreightWaves Media brands are set up for further national and global success in the years to come.”

FreightWaves Media is the largest source of information and content for the $9.6 trillion global logistics industry, providing breaking news, information and context on the stories that impact freight, logistics and supply chain professionals. FreightWaves.com is the world’s leading logistics news site, and its sister site is AmericanShipper.com, which has seen phenomenal growth since FreightWaves acquired it.

FreightWaves TV, the company’s streaming over-the-top platform, offers daily streaming content with 12 shows that focus on issues that impact transportation professionals. It has a daily audience of more than 25,000 professionals.

FreightWaves Passport provides proprietary insights into the transportation and logistics sectors, using fundamental research, surveys and financial and simulation modeling. Passport offers subscribers unparalleled research, analysis and insight on trends and conditions in the freight market.

Firecrown Media is a content-as-a-service (CaaS) virtual media production platform. It provides custom-produced virtual events, virtual media networks and broadcast-quality video. Firecrown’s clients are both inside and outside the transportation and logistics industries. Empowered by the success of its own streaming video and virtual events platform, FreightWaves established Firecrown Media as a separate division dedicated to custom content.

“We chose Travis to lead FreightWaves Media because we wanted an executive with a track record for innovation and execution in the FreightTech sector. Travis is one of the most respected leaders in our industry and has played a pivotal role in the early days of the emerging FreightTech industry.” Fuller stated.

FreightWaves Media has grown exponentially over the past three years by delivering context and information for the logistics industry. The FreightWaves Media brands have become the primary sources of information and analysis for logistics professionals all over the world, across all modes of transportation.

Fuller recently told the FreightWaves staff that FreightWaves Media currently represents $11 million of the company’s $19 million revenue run-rate. Fuller believes FreightWaves is positioned to cross $100 million in revenues and would be in a position for an IPO within the next few years.

Travis began his career at NYK Logistics in 2001, but soon thereafter started his first company; a truckload brokerage, which he sold in 2005. He then spent five years at Exel (now DHL Supply Chain), designing and implementing supply chain systems and launching startups for the retail and consumer sectors in various locations across the country. He is highly proficient in supply chain visibility, TMS applications, front-end design, as well as customer and user experience. He has also successfully led enterprise sales teams, secured and managed Fortune 500 clients, and built teams to grow and develop those supporting products.
