Gulf Coast Flooding: Flooding along the Gulf Coast has been an on-going problem and Wednesday weather could make it even worse. Heavy thunderstorms are moving through the Houston area Wednesday, with the potential for more severe weather.
Barge traffic at a standstill in some places: The Ports of Little Rock and St. Louis are still not allowing barges by way of the Mississippi and Arkansas rivers. About half a billion tons of cargo on barges are moved up and down the Mississippi each year. That number includes over half the country’s grain exports. It could be days or even weeks in some places before business is back to normal.
Severe weather from the Midwest to the Carolinas: From St. Louis to Cincinnati, all the way to the Carolinas, severe weather is forecasted Wednesday. Flash flooding, large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes are all possibilities. Make sure you keep your eyes to the sky and stay weather aware.
