Commentaries addressed range of topics from lockdowns in China to C.H. Robinson

FreightWaves has won a top award for commentary journalism in the 2023 Jesse H. Neal Awards.

FreightWaves was awarded a top honor for commentary writing on Friday at the 69th annual Jesse H. Neal Awards, the most prestigious competition in business-to-business journalism.

The Best Commentary/Blog category is judged based on “the strength of the opinions expressed, relevance of topics and the skill and clarity of the writing.”

The category included a range of work that included pieces written by FreightWaves CEO Craig Fuller, Editorial Director Rachel Premack and contributor Ryan Schreiber:

The judges said FreightWaves’ commentaries provided “a thorough look at the existential threats facing the industry, supported by ample evidence, good reporting and substantial context.”

FreightWaves was also a finalist for the Best News Coverage category for its team coverage of the diesel market in 2022 and Best Industry Coverage for its coverage of 2022’s potential rail strike.

There were 215 Neal Award finalists this year.
