Genoa port congestion continues
The Port of Genoa, Italy, continues to suffer congestion at its container terminal after a computerized management system broke down several weeks ago, forwarder Expeditors International reported in a customer bulletin, citing information from the local terminal company.
The port has been closed for exports in order to process the backlog. Some carriers have since moved their services to alternative ports. The Voltri terminal is expected to reopen to exports some time this week, but it could take two or three more weeks to clear the backlog, Expeditors said.
