Germany’s Finance Ministry said in a document that a complete or partial sale of Schenker AG, the logistics arm of state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn, could be taken up again, Reuters reported last week.
The document was sent to the parliament’s budget committee, which had asked the Finance Ministry for proposals on how to stabilize Deutsche Bahn’s finances.
The budget committee asked for potential plans to boost Deutsche Bahn’s liquidity after the government provided the rail operator with a cash injection of 2 billion euros (U.S. $2.35 billion).
Last year, Deutsche Bahn hired banks to help float its Arriva international transport system, along with Schenker, with the goal of raising 4.5 billion euros.
