NYK Bulk & Projects Carrier’s order is for 25 bulk carriers, and BW LPG will have 12 LPG carriers retrofitted.
Goltens’ Worldwide Green Technologies Division Asia announced Thursday contracts with NYK Bulk & Projects Carrier Ltd. (NBP) and BW LPG for support in retrofitting 37 vessels with ballast water treatment systems (BWT).
The order for NBP, a subsidiary of the Japanese shipping company NYK, is for 25 bulk carriers. The scope of the contract includes 3D laser scanning and modeling of BWT systems, delivery of detailed design packages and installation supervision in the shipyard.
BW LPG awarded orders for the same scope of work to retrofit 12 LPG carriers.
Work has already started on both contracts, according to the press release from Goltens.
Goltens has completed or is in the process of completing 435 ballast water retrofit projects worldwide and has more than 100 additional BWT systems contracted.
