Gordon Food Service signs with FKI Logistex for sorting system
Gordon Food Service, Inc., a 107-year-old family-owned food service supplier based in Grand Rapids, Mich., has contracted with FKI Logistex, a provider of material handling technology, for an automated, high-speed conveying and sortation system at Gordon Food's new warehouse in Shepardsville, Ky.
The multi-million dollar contract calls for 50,000 feet of powered conveyor to be in place at the facility by early 2006.
Gordon Food distributes food and food-related items to more than 45,000 customers, including restaurants, cruise ships, hotels, hospitals and schools.
