GRAND ALLIANCE ADDS LOS ANGELES CALL TO EUROPE SERVICE

Grand Alliance carriers P&O Nedlloyd, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and NYK are adding an eastbound call at Los Angeles or Long Beach to their PAX weekly service.

The first regular call is scheduled in Los Angeles/Long Beach on Sept. 6 with the sailing of the “Newport Bay.”

The Grand Alliance has already started occasional eastbound calls at Los Angeles/Long Beach. During an interim period, as the larger, faster vessels are phased into the PAX service, only some of the vessels will make eastbound calls at Los Angeles/Long Beach. The first ship to call at Los Angeles eastbound was the “Hamburg Express” on July 11, but the next two vessels in the service will not call.

Previously, the Asia/U.S./Europe/U.S./Asia PAX service called at Los Angeles westbound only. The additional eastbound call will fill a gap in the alliance’s direct service coverage in the Atlantic trade.
