GRI Roundup: CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM of France and Hapag-Lloyd of Germany issued general rate increases.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU Jan. 8 and by an additional $150 per TEU Jan. 15. These increases are in addition to the $500 per TEU rate increase CMA CGM issued on the trade for all cargo, which took effect Jan. 1.
   In addition, the French carrier will increase rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all North European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) for all cargo effective Jan. 15. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU. 
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Jan. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
