GRI Roundup: CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers CMA CGM of France and Hapag-Lloyd of Germany issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo in three successive steps. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU April 1, $100 per TEU April 8 and $200 per TEU April 15.
   The French carrier will also increase rates from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden, Yemen for all cargo effective April 7. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the United States and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective April 1. The German carrier said the originally reported amounts for this trade, which it announced Feb. 24, were incorrect and have been modified as follows: Rates will increase by $540 per TEU standard container; $600 per FEU standard container; $675 per 40-foot high cube container; and $760 per 40-foot reefer container.
   In addition, Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and container types effective April 15. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU container and $1,000 per FEU container.
