GRI Roundup: CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Hamburg Sud and MOL

Ocean carrier CMA CGM of France, Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd and Hamburg Sud, and MOL of Japan issued general rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Hamburg Sud and MOL issued general rate increases on various trades.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • North Europe (Baltic, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom/Eire, Continent, Spain Atlantic and Portugal Atlantic) to the Caribbean, Central America and the North and West Coasts of South America effective Oct. 1. This increase does not concern the Europe to French West Indies, Trinidad, Suriname, Guyana, Leeward and Winward islands trade. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by 200 euros per TEU, and 400 euros per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • India, Pakistan and the Middle East to Mogadishu, Somalia for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
     • The Baltic, Scandinavian, the United Kingdom/Eire, Continental, and Atlantic Spanish and Portuguese ports to Trinidad and Tobago, Natal, Vila do Conde and Fortaleza effective Oct. 1 for dry and reefer containers. Rates will increase by 200 euros per TEU; and 400 euros per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • The West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Far East, Japan, India, Gulf and Red Sea effective Oct. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU; and for reefer cargo, rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
   In addition, CMA CGM announced new “Freight All Kinds (FAK)” tariffs from all main Asian ports to all main North African ports for dry cargo effective Sept. 15. The French carrier also announced new FAK tariffs from all Asian main ports to all Mediterranean main ports for all cargo effective Sept. 15. CMA CGM also announced new FAK tariffs from all North European main ports to all Asian main ports effective Oct. 1.
   Hapag-Lloyd issued a general rate increase from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 18. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
   In addition, Hapag-Lloyd is increasing FAK rates from the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean effective Oct. 1.
   MOL issued a general rate increase from North and Southeast Asia (excluding Japan) to New Zealand effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU for both dry and refrigerated cargo in the base of ocean freight. The carrier announced the same increase on the trade to take effect Nov. 15 for the same amounts.
   Hamburg-Sud will increase rates from:
     • Asia to the East Coast of South America effective Sept. 18. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
     • The East Coast of South America to Asia effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • The U.S. and Canada to Asia for all cargo effective Oct. 10. Rates will increase by $80 per 20-foot standard container, and $100 per 40-foot standard container and 40-foot high cube container.
     • The U.S. East Coast and Eastern Canada to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay for all cargo effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $150 per 20-foot equipment and $300 per 40-foot equipment.
