Ocean carriers CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL and OOCL issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MOL and OOCL issued general rate increases on various trades.
   CMA CGM postponed its rate increase from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) for all cargo of $950 per TEU from Dec. 1 to Dec. 14.
   In addition, the French carrier’s peak season surcharge applied to reefers from North Europe to West Africa will no longer be applicable starting Dec. 15.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
   *East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and all container types effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU.
   *East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and all container types effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU and $1,000 per forty-foot container (FEU).
   *Northeast Asia to Australia for all cargo and all container types effective Jan. 7. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
   In addition, the German ocean carrier postponed its rate increase from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the United States and Canada, which was originally scheduled to take effect Sept. 1, to Jan. 15. The rate quantum, which has been doubled from the original amount, will be $320 per TEU standard container; and $400 per FEU standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
   MOL will increase rates from
   *Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East) to South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe on all cargo effective Dec. 21. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
   *Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America on all cargo effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $950 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP), $1,900 per 40-foot GP and $1,900 per 40-foot high cube container (dry and reefer).
   *Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America on all cargo effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per 20-foot GP,  $2,000 per 40-foot GP  and $2,000 per 40-foot high cube container (dry and reefer).
   OOCL will increase rates from North East Asia (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong) and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) to New Zealand for dry and refrigerated cargo effective Jan. 7. Rates will increase by $350 per TEU.
