Ocean carriers CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and MOL announced general rate increases.
CMA CGM will increase rates from Asia to Panama, Cuba and all of the Caribbean effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. The French carrier also announced rates on the trade will increase Sept. 15 by $1,050 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
CMA CGM will also increase rates for all cargo and container types from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen. Rates will increase Sept. 8 by $500 per TEU.
Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
• East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
• North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
• The East Coast of South America to Europe for dry cargo only effective Sept. 5. Rates will increase by $220 per TEU standard container, FEU standard container and 40-foot high cube container.
• The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to the U.S. and Canada effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $320 per TEU standard container; and $400 per FEU standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
Hapag-Lloyd has also announced an increased FAK rate from the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all cargo and standard container types effective Sept. 1.
OOCL will increase rates from the Far East (excluding Japan) to North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $900 per TEU.
MOL will increase rates from Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective Sept. 5. Rates will increase by $800 per 20-foot general purpose container; and $1,600 per 40-foot general purpose container and 40-foot high cube container.
The Japanese carrier will also increase rates from Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective Sept. 5. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot general purpose container; and $1,500 per 40-foot general purpose container and 40-foot high cube container.
