Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued rate increases on several trades.
Maersk Line will increase rates from:
• India to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
• China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will increase by $500 for 40-foot non-operating reefer (NOR) containers.
• Far East Asia to the Mediterranean (excluding Syria) effective Aug. 15. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,250 per TEU; and $2,500 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
• Far East Asia to Syria effective Aug. 15. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by 1,250 euros per TEU; and 2,500 euros per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
• Far East Asia to West Africa effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
• Far East Asia to Mauritius effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $500 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
• Far East Asia to Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
• The East Coast of South America to India, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $150 for sugar; $100 per TEU for dry cargo; and $100 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube for dry cargo.
• China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena) effective Sept. 5. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates for 40-foot NOR containers will also increase by $1,500.
• China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia (Buenaventura) effective Sept. 5. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates for 40-foot NOR containers will also increase by $1,500.
CMA CGM will increase rates from:
• All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo in three successive steps. On Sunday, rates increased by $100 per TEU. Rates will increase by an additional $250 per TEU Aug. 15 and $100 per TEU Aug. 22.
• All Asian ports to Pakistan, the West Coast of India and Sri Lanka for all cargo in two successive steps. Effective Aug. 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, and effective Sept. 1, rates will increase by an additional $100 per TEU.
• All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
• The East Coast of South America to West Africa for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per container.
• The East Coast of South America to South Africa, the Arabian Gulf and the West Coast of North India for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $200 per FEU.
• The Far East, China and Southeast Asia to South Africa and Port Louis (Mauritius) for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
• The Far East, China and Southeast Asia to Mozambique and Tamatave (Madagascar) for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
• The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East Gulf to Mozambique for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
• The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East Gulf to South Africa for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
• The West Mediterranean, Adriatic, the East Mediterranean and the Black Sea to the Far East, Japan, India, the Gulf and the Red Sea effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU for dry cargo.
• North Europe, Scandinavia, the East and West Mediterranean, the Black Sea, North Africa and the Baltic to West Africa, East Africa and the Indian Ocean for all cargo effective Oct. 1. For each TEU container, rates will increase by $553 (500 euros or GBP 419), while for each FEU container, rates will increase by $1,106 (1,000 euros or GBP 838).
Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
• East Asia to the U.S. and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers in two successive steps. On Aug. 19, rates will increase by $540 per TEU standard container, $600 per FEU standard and 40-foot high cube containers, and $760 per 40-foot reefer container. On Sept. 1, rates will increase by $540 per TEU standard container, $600 per FEU standard and 40-foot high cube containers, and $760 per 40-foot reefer container.
• The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the U.S. and Canada effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $480 per TEU standard container; and $600 per FEU standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
• North East Asia to Australia for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
• East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Indian Subcontinent for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 12. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
Hapag-Lloyd also announced an increased “Freight All Kinds (FAK)” rate for all cargo and standard containers from East Asia to the North Continent and West Mediterranean effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $1,250 per TEU container, $2,400 per FEU container and $2,450 per 40-foot high cube container.
The German carrier is also issuing an increased FAK rate from East Asia to the East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $1,550 per TEU container, $3,000 per FEU container and $3,050 per 40-foot high cube container.
In addition, Hapag-Lloyd is issuing an increased FAK rate for all cargo and standard containers from India to the North Continent, West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa effective Aug. 15.
