GRI Roundup: Maersk, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and MOL issued rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd OOCL and MOL announced rate increases.
   Maersk Line issued general rate increases (GRIs) from:
     • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $700 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $700 per 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $700 per 40-foot non-operating reefer (NOR) container.
     • India to Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Barbados effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $50 per TEU; and $100 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • India to Colombia, Puerto Rico, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Barbados effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $150 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will also increase by $1,000 per NOR container (excluding the Colombian ports of Buenaventura, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta).
   In addition, Maersk will increase “Freight All Kinds (FAK)” rates from all Asian countries (excluding Japan) to all Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa countries effective Aug. 1. The Danish carrier said rates will be separately communicated through local sales offices.
   Maersk will also increase FAK rates from the Far East main ports (excluding Japan) to North Europe (main ports) effective Aug. 1.
   CMA CGM issued a GRI from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   The French carrier also issued a GRI from Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Mozambique for all cargo effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
   In addition, CMA CGM is increasing FAK rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Finland/Estonia) for all cargo effective Aug. 1.
   Hapag-Lloyd announced a GRI from North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
   The German carrier also issued a GRI from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
   OOCL announced a GRI from the Far East (excluding Japan) to North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $850 per TEU.
   MOL issued a GRI from Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America for all cargo effective Aug. 3. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU for dry cargo. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot RAD (NOR) containers.
   On the Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America trade, MOL issued two separate GRIs in the past week, scheduled to take effect Aug. 1 and Aug 15. On Aug. 1, rates for dry and reefer cargo will increase by $500 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP); and $1,000 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers. On Aug. 15, rates for dry and reefer cargo will increase by $750 per 20-foot GP; and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
   Meanwhile, on the Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America trade, MOL also issued two separate GRIs in the past week, scheduled to take effect Aug. 1 and Aug 15. On Aug. 1, rates for dry and reefer cargo will increase by $550 per 20-foot GP; and $1,100 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers. On Aug. 15, rates for dry and reefer cargo will increase by $800 per 20-foot GP; and $1,600 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
