Ocean carriers Maersk Line and CMA CGM issued general rate increases.
Maersk Line will increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Mediterranean (excluding Syria) Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU and $2,000 per forty-foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube container and 45-foot high cube container for dry and reefer goods.
The Danish carrier will also increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to Syria effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by 900 euros per TEU and 1,800 euros per FEU, 40-foot high cube container and 45-foot high cube container for dry and reefer goods.
Maersk will also increase rates from Far East Asia to North Europe effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU and $2,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube container and 45-foot high cube container for dry and reefer goods.
In addition, the Danish carrier removed the congestion surcharge on imports to Douala, Cameroon Oct. 15.
CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports on all cargo effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU. The rate increase comes in addition to the two rate increases on the trade that took effect Oct. 15 ($125 per TEU) and Oct. 22 ($125 per TEU).
The French carrier also updated its War Risk Surcharge on all shipments to Aden, Yemen on all Asia/Mediterranean NAF trades. Effective Oct. 26, the surcharge stood at $450 per TEU and $900 per forty-foot container (FEU). The surcharge will be prepaid by shippers at the port of loading.
CMA CGM will also implement a winter surcharge on imports to St. Petersburg, Russia and Ust-Luga, Russia. From the North Continent and the Mediterranean to the Russian ports, a surcharge of 75 euros per TEU will be applied on all cargo from Dec. 1 through April 30. From all deep sea origins to the Russian ports, a surcharge of $100 per TEU will be applied on all cargo from Dec. 1 to March 31.
