GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd announced general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from Germany, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic to Mexico effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $75 per TEU, $100 per FEU, $100 per 40-foot high cube container and $100 per 45-foot high cube container.
   In addition, the Danish carrier will increase rates from all global origins (excluding New Zealand) to Fiji effective Oct. 12. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU, $400 per forty-foot container (FEU) and $600 per 40-foot high cube dry container.
   Maersk Line will also increase rates from North Europe to the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube container and 45-foot high cube dry container.
   CMA CGM will increase rates Oct. 1 on all cargo from Fos, Barcelona, Valencia, Algeciras, Livorno, Genoa and Naples to various ports in South America, Central America and the Caribbean including: Cartagena, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Manzanillo (Panama), Moin, Puerto Cortes, Santo Tomas de Castilla, La Guaira, Valparaiso, San Antonio, Lirquen, Iquique, Arica, Callao, Paita, Guayaquil, Caucedo, Kingston, Port au Prince, Mariel, Santiago de Cuba, Puerto Cabello, Maracaibo, El Guamache, Guanta, Guaranao, Willemstad, Oranjstad and Belize. Rates will increase by 100 euros per TEU and 150 euros per FEU.
   In addition, the French carrier will increase rates from Pakistan, the West Coast of India and Tuticorin (India) to South African and West African countries on dry cargo effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
   CMA CGM will also increase rates from Asia (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Mozambique and Tamatave (except Pointe-des-Galets) on all cargo on the MOZEX service effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:

  • Japan to the Arabian Gulf on all cargo and all container types effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
  • Italy to the West Coast of South America, Central America and the Caribbean on all cargo and all container types effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by 150 euros per TEU and 250 euros per FEU.
  • The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean on all shipments effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $250 per FEU.
  • North Europe to Canada East Coast, the U.S. East Coast and the U.S. Gulf Coast effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $125 per TEU and $175 per FEU.
  • North Europe to Mexico East Coast effective Oct. 1 by $75 per TEU and $100 per FEU.
  • North Europe to the U.S. West Coast and Canada West Coast effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
  • The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to the United States and Canada effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $160 per TEU standard container, $200 per FEU standard container, $200 per 40-foot high cube container and $200 per 40-foot reefer container. This increase was postponed from taking effect Sept. 1.
  • East Asia to the United States and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $540 per TEU standard container, $600 per FEU standard container, $675 per 40-foot high cube container and $760 per 45-foot container. This increase was postponed from taking effect Oct. 1.
  • Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to Australia on all cargo and all container types effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
  • East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe and the Mediterranean on all cargo and all container types effective Oct. 19. Rates will increase by $950 per TEU.
