Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, COSCO, CSCL, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and MOL issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, COSCO, CSCL, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL and MOL issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Mediterranean (excluding Syria) effective May 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU; and $2,000 per forty foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
   The Danish carrier will also increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to Syria effective May 1. Rates will increase by 900 euros per TEU; and 1,800 euros per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube for dry and reefer containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Finland and Estonia) for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
     • The Middle East to North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the West Mediterranean and the East Mediterranean effective May 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU for dry and reefer cargo, while rates will increase by $400 per FEU for dry and reefer cargo.
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all cargo. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU on both April 21 and April 28.
   COSCO and CSCL will increase rates from Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean May 1. Rates will increase by $600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and container types effective May 15. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective May 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to U.S. West Coast ports for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU container (dry and reefer) and $400 per FEU container (dry and reefer).
     • Brazil to the U.S. Gulf, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU container (dry and reefer) and $300 per FEU container (dry and reefer).
     • Brazil to the U.S. East Coast for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU container (dry and reefer) and $200 per FEU container (dry and reefer).
     • East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective May 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
     • North Europe and the Mediterranean to all East Asia, Indian Subcontinent and Middle East destinations, excluding reefer and special equipment, effective May 1. Rates will increase by $200 per container.
     • The Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all shipments effective May 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU. OOCL will increase rates from the Far East (excluding Japan) to North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea effective May 1. Rates will increase by $900 per TEU.
   MOL will increase rates from:
     • Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU dry cargo. In addition, rates will increase by $750 per 40-foot RAD (NOR) containers.
     • Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $450 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP); and $900 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $500 per 20-foot GP; and $1,000 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
   “K” Line will increase rates on the Asia to North Europe trade effective May 1. Rates will increase by $800 per TEU. The Japanese carrier will also look to increase rates from Asia to the Mediterranean from the start of May by $950 per TEU.
