Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, CSCL, Hanjin, Yang Ming, “K” Line, MOL, Hamburg Sud and UASC announced general rate increases.
Maersk Line will increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Mediterranean (excluding Syria) effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU, $1,000 per 40-foot container (FEU), $1,000 per 40-foot high cube and $1,000 per 45-foot high cube.
The Danish carrier will also increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to Syria effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by 450 euros per TEU, 900 euros per FEU, 900 euros per 40-foot high cube and 900 euros per 45-foot high cube.
Maersk Line will also increase rates from Far East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU, $1,000 per FEU, $1,000 per 40-foot high cube and $1,000 per 45-foot high cube.
CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports on all cargo effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
The French carrier will increase rates from all Asian ports to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India on all cargo effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $100 per FEU.
CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) on all cargo effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
It will increase rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden, Yemen on all cargo effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
CMA CGM will also increase rates from the Far East and Japan to Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Libya effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU.
In addition, CMA CGM increased its port congestion surcharge for imports and exports between Shuwaikh, Kuwait Sept. 1 to $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU (collect). The original surcharge was implemented Aug. 20 because port congestion, which caused service disruptions, increased its operational costs at the port.
CMA CGM also applied an Operational Cost Recovery surcharge, on all cargo initially planned for Hodeidah, which will now be delivered to Aden. The surcharge of $230 per TEU and $400 per FEU took immediate effect Sept. 1.
CSCL will increase rates from Asia to Europe effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $525 per TEU.
Hanjin, Yang Ming and “K” Line will increase rates from Asia to Europe effective Sept. 20 by $500 per TEU.
MOL announced a general rate increase from all origins (excluding Japan, Southeast Asia and the United Arab Emirates) to Tamatave, Madagascar; Beira, Mozambique; and Maputo, Mozambique effective Sept. 16. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and 200 per FEU.
Hamburg Sud will increase rates from Asia to Europe effective Sept. 21 by $500 per TEU.
UASC announced a general rate increase from Asia (including Japan and Bangladesh) to North Europe on dry cargo (excluding special cargo) effective Sept. 21. Rates will increase by $600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU.
