Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • India to the East Coast of South America effective July 15. Rates will increase by $50 per TEU, $100 per FEU and $100 per 40-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective July 15. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube for dry cargo. Rates will also increase by $1,000 per 40-foot NOR container.
     • Far East Asia to South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • Far East Asia to New Zealand effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU, $200 per FEU and $200 per 45-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • Far East Asia to North America effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $800 per TEU, $1,000 per FEU, $1,100 per 40-foot high cube and $1,270 per 45-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay to Europe (excluding Syria) effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU, $150 per FEU and $150 per 40-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • The same abovementioned South American ports to Syria effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by 91 euros per TEU, 137 euros per FEU and 137 euros per 40-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena) effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU, and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot non-operating reefer (NOR) container.
     • The same abovementioned Asian ports to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Buenaventura (Colombia) effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU, and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot NOR container.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to East Africa effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $325 per TEU; and $650 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • North and West India to Colombia and Puerto Rico effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $50 per TEU, and $100 per FEU and 40-foot high cube for dry containers.
     • Far East Asia to West Africa effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to Europe (excluding Syria) effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU, and $400 per FEU and 40-foot high cube for dry and reefer containers.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to Syria effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by 300 euros per TEU, and 400 euros per FEU and 40-foot high cube for dry and reefer containers.
   Maersk Line also announced an increased “Freight All Kinds (FAK)” rate as from July 15 from all Asian countries to all Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North African countries. The Danish carrier said rates will be separately communicated through local sales offices.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; Aden; and Hodeidah, Yemen for all container types effective July 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   The French carrier will also increase rates from India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.  
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective July 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • East Asia to North America (U.S. and Canada) effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $480 per 20-foot standard container; $600 per 40-foot standard container and 40-foot high cube container; and $760 per 40-foot reefer container.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America, Panama, the Gulf of Mexico and Progreso (Mexico) for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • India to Mexico, the West and East Coast of Central America, the West Coast of South America, the Caribbean and Panama for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
     • Northeast Asia to Australia for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
     • The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the U.S. and Canada for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $320 per 20-foot standard container; and $400 per 40-foot standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
   Hapag-Lloyd will also implement a FAK increase from all base ports in Asia to all North Europe and Mediterranean base ports effective July 15. Rates will increase by $1,950 per TEU container, $3,800 per FEU container and $3,850 per 40-foot high cube container.
   The German carrier also announced an increased FAK rate from all base ports in the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to all North Europe and Mediterranean base ports effective July 28. Rates will increase by $800 per TEU container, $1,200 per FEU container and $1,250 per 40-foot high cube container.
   MOL will increase rates from:
     • Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America effective July 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU for dry cargo; and $1,500 per 40-foot RAD (NOR) container.
     • Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America effective July 18. Rates will increase by $800 per 20-foot general purpose (GP) container, and $1,600 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube container for dry and reefer cargo.
     • Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America effective July 18. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot GP, and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high-cube for dry and reefer cargo.
