GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rates increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from Far East Asia to the United States and Canada effective June 1. Rates will increase by $480 per TEU, $600 per forty-foot container (FEU), $700 per 40-foot high cube dry container and $750 per 45-foot high cube dry container.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all cargo effective May 5. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • India to West Africa (central and south range) for all cargo, except reefer cargo, effective June 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • India to West Africa (north range) for all cargo, except reefer cargo, effective June 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
     • All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo. Rates will increase May 5 by $100 per TEU, May 8 by $200 per TEU and again May 15 by $100 per TEU.
     • The Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Black Sea, Adriatic and North Africa trades for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • The East Coast of South America to Asia (excluding the Middle East) for all cargo and container types effective May 26. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU container and $350 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective June 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU container and $1,000 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and container types effective June 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to all U.S. and Canadian destinations for all dry, reefer, non-operative reefer, flat rack and open-top containers effective June 1. Rates will increase by $480 per TEU container and $600 per FEU container.
   MOL will increase rates from:
     • Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU dry containers. Rates will also increase by $750 per FEU RAD (NOR) containers.
     • Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East) to South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
     • Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $700 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP); and $1,400 per forty-foot GP and 40-foot high cube dry and reefer container.
     • Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot GP; and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube dry and reefer container.
