GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL announced general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective July 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $1,000 per 40-foot NOR containers.
     • Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay to Europe (excluding Syria) effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, $150 per FEU and $150 per 40-foot high cube containers.
     • The same abovementioned ports to Syria effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by 91 euros per TEU, 137 euros per FEU and 137 euros per 40-foot high cube containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena) effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU, $1,500 per FEU and $1,500 per 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $1,500 for 40-foot non-operating reefer (NOR) containers.
     • The same abovementioned ports to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia (Buenaventura) effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU, $1,500 per FEU and $1,500 per 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $1,500 for 40-foot NOR containers.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to East Africa effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $325 per TEU; and $650 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • North and West India to Colombia and Puerto Rico effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $50 per TEU, $100 per FEU and $100 per 40-foot high cube containers.
     • Far East Asia to West Africa effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • The East Coast of South America to India, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $150 for sugar; $50 (FAK, prime paper, wood and scrap metal) per TEU dry cargo; and $50 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube for dry cargo.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to Europe (excluding Syria) effective Aug. 1. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU, $400 per FEU and $400 per 40-foot high cube containers.
     • The Middle East and South Asian area to Syria effective Aug. 1. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by 300 euros per TEU, 400 euros per FEU and 400 euros per 40-foot high cube containers.
   Maersk will also increase its FAK rate from all Asian countries to all Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa countries effective July 15. The Danish carrier said rates will separately be communicated through local sales offices.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from Asia (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti, Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all container types effective July 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective July 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
   The German carrier will also increase rates from the East Coast of South America to Europe for all dry cargo effective Aug. 8. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU standard container; and $200 per FEU standard and high cube containers.
   MOL will increase rates from:
     • Asia to the Caribbean and Amazon effective July 18. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,050 per 20-foot general purpose (GP); and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America effective July 18. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $800 per 20-foot GP; and $1,600 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America effective July 18. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot GP; and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
