GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL announced “Freight All Kinds” and general rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL announced “Freight All Kinds (FAK)” and general rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line announced new FAK rates on several trades.
   The carrier will increase FAK rates on the Europe to Middle East and Indian Subcontinent trade effective Oct. 1.
   Maersk also announced new FAK rates from the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to North Europe, the Mediterranean and Black Sea effective Oct. 1.
   In addition, Maersk announced new FAK rates from the Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) effective Oct. 1.
   Maersk is also issuing an increase in rice rates from the Middle East, North and West India and Pakistan to East Africa in October.
   CMA CGM announced new FAK rates from:
     • North Europe to the Middle East and Red Sea effective Oct. 1.
     • The Indian Subcontinent to North Europe and West Mediterranean. Rates will be adjusted from the Indian Subcontinent main ports on CMA CGM services ex ISC (Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka) to all Northern European main ports on CMA CGM services ex ISC (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Finland/Estonia) and all West Mediterranean main ports on CMA CGM services ex ISC (Malta, Italy, France and Spain) for all cargo effective Oct. 4.
     • The Middle East to North Europe and the West Mediterranean. Rates will be adjusted from Middle East main ports (Jebel Ali and Khor Fakkan) on CMA CGM services to all Northern European main ports on CMA CGM services ex Middle-East (including the United Kingdom and the full rate from Portugal to Finland/Estonia) and all West Mediterranean ports on CMA CGM services ex Middle-East (Malta, Italy, France and Spain) for all cargo effective Oct. 4.
     • All Asian main ports to all Northern European main ports effective Oct. 15 with end validity Oct. 31.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
   The German carrier will increase rates from North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd said it would postpone the rate increase announced Aug. 29 from East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types of $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU. The increase was postponed from taking effect Oct. 1, and will instead take effect Oct. 15.
   In addition, Hapag-Lloyd announced increased FAK rates from East Asia to North Europe, the West Mediterranean, the East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa for all cargo and standard container types effective Oct. 15.
   MOL is increasing rates from Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective Oct. 15. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $500 per 20-foot general purpose (GP) container, $1,000 per 40-foot GP container and $1,000 per 40-foot high cube container.
   In addition, the Japanese carrier will increase rates from Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America effective Oct. 15. For dry and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $550 per 20-foot GP container, $1,100 per 40-foot GP container and $1,100 per 40-foot high cube container.
   MOL will increase rates from Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to the East Coast of South America effective Oct. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot RAD (non-operating reefer containers).
