GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases on multiple trades.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases of a variety of trades.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • Far East Asia (excluding Japan and South Korea) to West Africa effective June 1. Rates will increase for dry containers by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
     •The Mediterranean (excluding Syria) to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent effective June 1. Rates for dry containers will increase by $150 per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer containers, rates will increase by $150 per TEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • Syria to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent effective June 1. Rates for dry containers will increase by 131 euros per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers. For reefer containers, rates will increase by 131 euros per TEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
     • India to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay effective June 1. For dry containers, rates will increase by $50 per TEU; and $100 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to West Africa for all cargo effective June 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Mombasa, Kenya for all cargo effective June 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
     • All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Finland and Estonia) for all cargo. On June 1, rates will increase by $450 per TEU, and on June 15, rates will increase by an additional $450 per TEU.
     • The Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa trades for all cargo. On June 1, rates will increase by 450 per TEU (400 euros to Syria), and on June 15, rates will increase by an additional $450 per TEU (400 euros to Syria).
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective June 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America, Panama, the Gulf of Mexico and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective June 15. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • North Europe and the Mediterranean to East Asia for all cargo and container types effective June 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • North Europe and the Mediterranean to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent for all cargo and container types effective June 1. Rates will increase by $150 per container.
   MOL will increase rates from Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective June 1. Rates will increase by $500 per 20-foot general purpose container (GP); and $1,000 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
   The Japanese carrier will also increase rates from Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective June 1. Rates will increase by $550 per 20-foot GP; and $1,100 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube containers.
