GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL announced general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and MOL issued general rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line announced general rate increases from:
     • Finland, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia to Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka effective March 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU; and $150 per forty-foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers. 
     • Ireland and the United Kingdom to Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka effective March 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU, FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • Finland to Far East Asia effective March 1. Rates will increase by $80 per TEU; and $100 per FEU, forty-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • Ireland and the United Kingdom to Far East Asia effective March 1. Rates will increase by $120 per TEU; and $150 per FEU, forty-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • Belgium; Denmark; Estonia; Germany; Iceland; Latvia; Lithuania; the Netherlands; Norway; Poland; Sweden; and various locations in France including Brest, Dunkerque, Honfleur, La Pallice, La Rochelle, Le Havre, Montoir de Bretagne and Rouen to Far East Asia effective March 15. Rates will increase by $120 per TEU; and $150 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry and reefer containers.
     • The United Arab Emirates to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda effective March 1. Rates will increase by $320 per TEU; and $600 per FEU and 40’h for dry cargo.
     • India to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda effective March 1. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $500 per FEU and 40’h for dry cargo.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan and Myanmar to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Santa Marta (Colombia), Barranquilla (Colombia) and Cartagena (Colombia) effective March 15. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube dry and 40-foot non-operating reefers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan and Myanmar to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Buenaventura (Colombia) effective March 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU, 40-foot high cube dry and 40-foot non-operating reefers.
     • Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to Europe and the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent (India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) effective April 1. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to Far East Asia, Guam, Oceania, the Pacific Ocean Islands and Southern Africa effective April 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU; and $200 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from North Europe (North Continent, Scandinavia, Baltic and the United Kingdom) to the Far East (China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) for all cargo effective March 15 (onboard date). Rates will increase by $250 per TEU dry and tank containers; and $400 per FEU dry and high cube containers.
   The French ocean carrier postponed its general rate increase on the Asia to the Mediterranean trade from March 1 to March 15 (bill of lading date). Rates from the Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa for all cargo will increase by $900 per TEU; however, rates to Syria will increase by 800 euros per TEU.
   CMA
CGM also postponed its general rate increase on the Asia to North Europe trade
from March 1 to March 15 (bill of lading date). Rates from all Asian ports
(including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all North European ports
(including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Russia) for
all cargo will increase by $900 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and container types effective March 15. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU. 
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective March 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU. 
     • The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the United States and Canada effective March 16. Rates will increase by $320 per TEU; and $400 per FEU, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container. 
     • The East Coast of South America to East Asia for all cargo and container types by $325 per TEU. On the ASE 2 service, the increase will take effect with the March 13 sailing of the Cap San Tainaro from Montevideo; and on the ASE 1 service, the increase will take effect with the April 2 sailing of the CMA CGM Congo from Itapoa.
   MOL will increase rates from Malaysia to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective March 15. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU GP; and $1,400 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot high cube (dry and reefer).
   The Japanese carrier will also increase rates from Asia (excluding Malaysia and India) to Mexico and the West Coast of South America for all cargo effective March 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU GP; and $1,500 per 40-foot GP and 40-foot HC (dry and reefer).
