GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and UASC

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and UASC issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and UASC issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan and Myanmar to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Buenaventura and Colombia effective May 1. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU; and $1,000 per forty-foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube dry, 40-foot high cube reefer and 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
   The Danish carrier will also increase rates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena) effective May 1. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU, 40-foot high cube dry, 40-foot high cube reefer and 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden, Yemen for all cargo effective April 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • The Far East and Japan to the East Mediterranean and Black Sea trades for all cargo effective April 22. Rates will increase by $800 per TEU to the East Mediterranean and Black Sea, while rates will increase by 700 euros per TEU to Syria.
     • The Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, the Adriatic and North Africa trades for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $1,000 per TEU.
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Kenya, Tanzania (Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar) and Mozambique for all cargo effective May 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective April 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
     • East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Persian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective May 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • The Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the U.S. and Canada effective May 1. Rates will increase by $320 per TEU standard container; and $400 per FEU standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
     • Chile to the U.S. and Canada West Coast ports for dry containers effective May 5. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU dry container and $300 per FEU dry container.
     • Northeast Asia to Australia for all cargo and container types effective May 15. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   UASC will increase rates from Asia to North Europe effective May 1. Rates will increase by $800 per TEU and $1,600 per FEU.
